New Employees

1. NetID: All new employees are assigned a NetID during the on-boarding process. Before arriving on campus, you will receive an email from University Human Relations (UHR) about activating your NetID. Follow the instructions provided by UHR. Your NetID will be used to login to your workstation and other Rutgers resources. Your NetID password should never be shared.

2. Email​: Rutgers Connect (Microsoft Office 365) is the primary email platform at the SSW. Once your NetID is created and SSW IT has configured your access, you can log in to your connect account through a web browser here, or through the Outlook desktop application. Visit this page for information about additional services through Rutgers Connect, such as Connect for mobile devices.

3. Software: For information on software provided on your workstation and frequently asked for software, click here.

4. Data Storage: Rutgers offers a variety of storage options for your files including your SSW home drive, shared network drives (all accessible over the VPN) and cloud storage through Box, OneDrive, and Google Drive (work-related documents should not be stored in Google Drive). 5. Computer Equipment: Check with your supervisor to confirm the equipment you will be using. If equipment purchase is required, reach out to SSW IT at it@ssw.rutgers.edu.

6. Video Conferencing: Zoom is the preferred and recommended video conferencing solution for SSW. Microsoft Teams and Webex are also available. Some SSW classroom and conference rooms are equipped with video conferencing equipment. Please contact facilities@ssw.rutgers.edu to book a room.

7. Print/Scan/Copy/Fax: All SSW users have access to printing, scanning, copying and faxing. Multi-function printers are available in each building and require NetID authentication. Documentation for these functions can be found here.

8. Wireless network access: Rutgers provides wireless network access for Rutgers owned and personal devices. When issued, SSW IT will configure your SSW owned devices for RUWireless Secure. For information on configuring your personal devices refer to OIT’s RUWireless documentation.

9. Phone: Nearly all workstations have desk phones. For information on how to use your phone or for phone support contact Voice Services, click here.
